Discover Sailing at Docklands

Community Sailing

Community Sailing Days are usually held on the second and fourth Sunday of the month, year round. (check our calendar page for exact dates). The cost of the day is $20 per person or $40 per family. This entitles you to day membership of the Club, insurance for water-based activities through the Yachting Australia insurance scheme, use of a boat, basic instruction, supervision and life jackets. Should you chose to become a member of DYC, your day membership cost is deducted from your full membership fee.

People of all ages, abilities and experience are welcome to come and sail in our fleet of safe and stable Hansa Class sailboats. No booking is required, but if there are 4 or more people in your party, if you could drop us an email would assist greatly. It is advisable to check the Home page on our website or Facebook page if strong winds or high temperatures are forecast. See our Calendar page for upcoming dates.

If there is a Gale Warning in place we will not sail.

We suggest you wear comfortable clothing which may get splashed (but not wet) and rubber soled shoes, bring a hat, sunscreen and water.

Discover Sailing Courses

Discover Sailing Courses offer a structured way to learn to sail for people new to the sport. You can register for a Discover Sailing Course with no prior sailing experience or you may have already had an opportunity to get out on the water through participating in a Discover Sailing Day or Discover Sailing Experience.

Discover Sailing Courses are only offered at accredited Discover Sailing Centres that operate in accord with minimum standards set by Yachting Australia. You have the option to do the courses in Dinghies, Keelboats, Windsurfers or Powerboats, and they are provided through accredited Discovery Sailing Centres.

You can find a course through the Discover Sailing website at www.discoversailing.org.au
